Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. What sets Infimeo battery storage apart from others on the market?

Infimeo isn’t just any battery storage—it’s smart. Unlike conventional batteries that simply store energy for later use, Infimeo actively manages your consumption. It monitors real-time conditions in the power grid and intelligently decides the sweet spot when to charge or discharge your battery. This means you save money and even earn rewards for helping stabilize the electricity grid—making your battery not just a storage device, but a smart energy partner.

  • 2. How does Infimeo decide when to charge or discharge your battery?

Infimeo intelligently manages your battery’s charging and discharging so you’re never limited in your energy use, while maximizing your savings or earnings.

Everything is controlled by the smart Energy Management System (EMS), which analyzes a range of factors—your electricity consumption and production, available battery capacity, grid conditions, and current electricity prices. The system even predicts sunlight conditions, so if excess solar energy is expected, it preemptively frees up battery capacity to make sure you can use every drop of clean energy to its fullest.

Thanks to this intelligent regulation, your battery always works in your favor.

  • 3. How can I earn with Infimeo?

Infimeo responds to the demands of the power grid. When there is an excess of electricity in the grid, the battery charges, effectively withdrawing surplus electricity from the grid. Conversely, when there’s a shortage, the battery discharges, helping stabilize the grid. In essence, by providing commercial flexibility with your battery, you are rewarded.

If you have a photovoltaic system, Infimeo helps you make the most of your solar energy. Advanced predictive algorithms in the EMS (Energy Management System) release battery capacity in time to store solar surpluses, ensuring your clean energy is used efficiently.

The entire process is automatic – your battery always acts in the most economically advantageous way for you, with no manual adjustments needed.

  • 4. Can I use Infimeo just for storing solar surplus?

Yes, you can use Infimeo solely to store excess solar energy without participating in flexibility. However, this means you won’t unlock its full potential and will miss out on a significant portion of financial rewards, which can considerably extend your return on investment.

Infimeo is designed not only to help you use your energy efficiently but also to generate additional income through providing flexibility. By participating in flexibility services, you’ll be regularly rewarded by SSE for stabilizing the grid, helping your investment pay off faster. That’s why we recommend using Infimeo to its full potential – not just for storing energy, but for actively earning as well.

  • 5. How much can I earn?

The amount of financial reward depends on the following factors:

    • The rated current of the circuit breaker
    • Your electricity consumption
    • Whether you have installed photovoltaics and its power output
    • The Battery storage capacity
    • The flexibility potential of the delivery point
    • Whether you have permission for grid feed-in (application submitted by SSE to the distribution company)
    • The level of reserved capacity (RK/MRK) in the case of businesses
  • 6. Do I need to have a specific energy supplier? If I don't have one, do I need to switch?

Yes. For Infimeo to work properly (i.e., to provide flexibility and help stabilize the grid), you must be an SSE customer. If you’re not yet an SSE client, SSE will handle the switch for you. More information can be found HERE.

  • 7. What if I don't have permission to export electricity to the grid?

If you don’t have permission to export electricity to the grid, it can negatively impact your investment’s payback period. You should check this with your distribution company, and SSE can assist you with the process.

  • 8. What is the difference between Commercial Flexibility and Commercial Arbitrage?

Commercial Arbitrage (Energy Trading) uses battery systems to buy electricity from the market when prices are low (e.g., at night) and sell it when prices are high (during peak hours). No cooperation with your electricity supplier is required.

Commercial flexibility means the ability of battery systems to respond quickly to the needs of the electricity market. It helps balance differences between energy production and consumption in real time, which is crucial for maintaining the stability and reliability of the power grid. By providing this flexibility, you earn additional profit. Cooperation with your electricity supplier is required. Battery system flexibility typically generates higher profits than commercial arbitrage.

  • 9. What are the financing options for Infimeo?

Infimeo can be financed in several ways tailored to your needs:

    • One-time payment
    • Installment plan (for businesses)
    • In combination with subsidy programs (if available)

Thanks to the income from providing flexibility, your investment in Infimeo can pay off in as little as 5 years, while the system continues to generate earnings.

  • 10. Does the reward for providing flexibility change over time?

Yes. The amount of the reward depends on seasonal fluctuations in the energy market and the consumption behavior of your site.

  • 11.How does the installation process work? Are any construction modifications usually required? Do I need to obtain a building permit for it?

Installing Infimeo is quick, simple, and minimally invasive to your home. It’s a plug & play solution that can be installed indoors or outdoors. No demolition is required, and the installation is done without complex modifications or long waiting times. A building permit is not necessary as long as the battery is installed in accordance with applicable regulations.

  • 12. Where is the best place to install the Infimeo battery – indoors or outdoors?

Infimeo offers flexible installation and can be placed either indoors or outdoors, depending on your space and preferences. When installed outdoors, the battery is designed to withstand various weather conditions.

However, the choice of installation location depends on the specific type of battery storage:
